...traditional homes designed for modern living

In this section, we 'll give you a chance to read some of the things our clients have said about us, their projects and their experiences.  We'll include anything else that we think may be of interest.  Who knows, if we're feeling brave, we may also add some photos of SkyeHomes staff.  We're all very shy though so don't hold your breath for that.

New For Old.

The house opposite is not a SkyeHome.  It was on the site of our client Nigel MacLean.  He bought the house and has now demolished it to replace it with a SkyeHome in the same style.  Click here to read why he has done this and have a look at our project gallery to see how his project progresses.

Why Timber Frame? Why SkyeHomes?

John MacLeod is building our "Isle Ornsay" design at Shawbost on the Isle of Lewis.  He has written this article on his reasons for choosing among other things, a SkyeHome.   John is a freelance journalist and we are very grateful that he should have taken the time to write this very personal article for us.  Click on the text to read the article.

A couple's experience

Steve & Marilyn Clarke moved to Kensaleyre on the Isle of Skye in 2003.  They were teachers in their previous life south of the border but have chosen a very different life here.  They seem to spend a great deal of time dealing with their rather large garden.  Thankfully their "Kilmarie" seems to take care of itself.  Click here to read their story about their SkyeHomes experience.

  Schaaf Sketches

A Skye Adventure

Rogier and Claartje Schaaf are from the Netherlands.  They are going to build a bespoke SkyeHome on their plot at Skinidin, Isle of Skye.  Click here to read the story so far.

Why Skye? - Our Story

The cheery folk in the photo opposite are Peter & Carol Steer experiencing their first winter on Skye.  They moved into their new Kildonan design house in May 2005 but took a break from decorating and generally turning their house into a home to write a short article to let everyone know why they did what they did and also to offer a little advice to anyone who's thinking of doing the same thing. Click here to read the article.
